At 5’2½” (158.8 cm) with a US size 8 shoe, Amanda Seyfried had a relaxed, vacation-ready moment while stepping off a water taxi at the Hotel Excelsior pier during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.

After attending the Miu Miu Women’s Tales event earlier in the festival in a lilac mini dress and black satin mules, Seyfried stayed with the Italian label but shifted the mood. This time, she paired a vibrant sapphire-blue Miu Miu mini dress with black satin ballet flats, trading the height of her earlier heels for a much more relaxed shoe.

Black Satin Ballerinas: Amanda Seyfried’s Miu Miu Flats Take Center Stage

Seyfried embraced a daytime balletcore aesthetic in Miu Miu ballerina flats crafted in Italy from black satin. The smooth fabric had a soft sheen that dressed up the otherwise simple silhouette without making it feel too formal for a water-taxi arrival. Flat shoes are also familiar territory for Seyfried: she has previously been photographed in simple black ballet flats off duty, making this polished Miu Miu pair feel consistent with a footwear style she has worn for years.

Originally presented during Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2022 show, the ballerinas featured slightly ruched, rounded toes, giving them a softer shape than the squared toes often seen on traditional ballet flats. A delicate bow at the front added a pretty, feminine detail and made the shoes look even more like classic ballet slippers.

The flats were trimmed with grosgrain fabric, adding a textural contrast around the edges. An elasticated strap sat across the instep to keep the flats secure, while a small knit Miu Miu logo added a branded detail.

The flats also continued Seyfried’s run of black Miu Miu footwear in very different silhouettes. She paired an archival Miu Miu coat with glossy black penny loafers in New York in December 2025, before switching to the label’s Buckle-Trio slingback pumps at the Berlinale in February 2026. In Venice, the satin ballerinas offered the softest and most casual variation on that recurring black-shoe formula.

Miu Miu continues to offer several versions of its ballet flats, including logo-strap and Mary Jane styles. You can shop the latest Miu Miu ballet flats at Nordstrom and Mytheresa.

Sapphire Blue: Seyfried Pairs Her Flats With a Miu Miu Mini Dress

Seyfried paired the sporty black ballet flats with a sapphire-blue cotton poplin mini dress by Miu Miu, inspired by an archival piece from the house. The bright blue color immediately stood out, giving the simple silhouette a fun, summery feel.

The dress featured an off-the-shoulder neckline with elasticized gathering that created soft ruching along the top. Short, puffed balloon sleeves added a feminine touch, while the loose, boxy babydoll shape gave the dress a playful silhouette. It flared slightly toward the hem before ending high above her thighs.

Finishing Touches: Miu Miu Solitaire Bag and Tiffany Jewelry

Seyfried kept the rest of her styling simple, wearing her blonde hair in a neat, side-parted bun. She added delicate Tiffany Co “Tiffany Victoria” pearl earrings and a ring, keeping the jewelry understated.

A black Miu Miu Solitaire bag matched her ballet flats and added a polished touch while tying the black accessories together. Soft, natural makeup, with a rosy lip, completed her fresh daytime look.

Venice 2026 Shoe Highlights: From Barely-There Sandals to Statement Pumps

Seyfried’s ballet flats were part of a memorable Venice Film Festival where footwear ranged from almost invisible sandals to sculptural statement heels. Alicia Vikander showed both ends of understated elegance, wearing metallic Louis Vuitton stiletto sandals for The Echo Chamber premiere before changing into barely-there tan Chloé T-straps for the photocall.

Minimalism took several forms. Kendall Jenner paired Aquazzura So Nude sandals with archival Giorgio Armani, while Suki Waterhouse sharpened a Saint Laurent lace mini with burgundy Apolline slingback pumps. Both kept the shoe silhouettes relatively clean, but Jenner’s barely-there sandals nearly disappeared against the foot while Waterhouse’s elongated pointed toes became part of the look.

Other stars treated their shoes as the statement. Ever Anderson wore pink satin Dior pumps covered in dimensional roses, while Kate and Rooney Mara moved through platforms, pumps, sandals, and mules across their Bucking Fastard premiere and photocall appearances.

The range went wider still. Our 2026 Venice Film Festival shoe roundup spans Claire Foy’s towering Christian Louboutin platforms, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s flat Celine lace-ups, Laura Dern’s pointed Prada slingbacks, and Amal Clooney’s razor-sharp Tom Ford pumps. Against all that height and drama, Seyfried’s satin Miu Miu ballerinas made a quieter argument for the flat.

Why Ballet-Inspired Shoes Have Celebrity Staying Power

Seyfried’s Miu Miu flats show why the ballerina has such staying power: the low, delicate silhouette can soften a mini dress without competing with it, while still being practical enough for an arrival by water taxi and a day spent moving around Venice. That balance has made ballet-inspired shoes an adaptable celebrity staple, equally at home with denim, dresses, and more formal looks.

The appeal also extends well beyond the traditional flat. Zoe Saldana gave the silhouette an avant-garde spin in MM6 Maison Margiela satin ballerinas, while Christian Louboutin’s Cassia shows how the same dance-inspired vocabulary can become a dramatic evening shoe, translating the ruched toe, bow, and ribbon ties of a ballet slipper into a four-inch stiletto ballet pump.

The idea continues to evolve rather than simply cycle in and out of fashion. Ballet flats have crossed into athletic footwear through sneakerinas that combine ballet-inspired straps, ribbons, and low-profile shapes with sneaker soles, while our look at 2026’s most wearable shoe trends shows how that hybrid fits into a broader move toward lighter, lower-profile footwear. Seyfried’s satin Miu Miu pair sits at the classic end of that spectrum: feminine, easy to wear, and simple enough to let the rest of her Venice look do the talking.
