For opening night, Parker paired a navy Christian Dior sheer mesh and polka-dot cotton organdy dress with a fitted black blazer. The shoes supplied the sparkle. Parker wore pointed-toe “Rampling” pumps from SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker in the silver glitter “Scintillate” finish.

The heels also displayed one of the collection’s recognizable details: a thin grosgrain ribbon running vertically down the back seam, a design element Parker linked to the ribbons her mother tied in her hair when she was growing up.

Parker’s decision to wear her own label was especially fitting for an actress whose public fashion identity had already become closely associated with designer shoes. SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker launched in 2014 with an emphasis on Italian-made shoes, saturated colors, metallic finishes, and classic silhouettes. Why the Broadway Opening of “Sylvia” Was Personal for SJP

Parker’s connection to Sylvia went well beyond attending her husband’s opening night. She had originated the role of Sylvia — the talking dog at the center of A.R. Gurney’s comedy — when the play premiered Off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club in 1995.

The 2015 production marked the play’s Broadway debut, with Broderick playing Greg and Annaleigh Ashford taking over the title role. Julie White and Robert Sella completed the four-person cast.
