Some of Hollywood’s biggest names stepped out for the opening-night celebration of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on September 19, 2026.

Cynthia Erivo, Tracee Ellis Ross, Keke Palmer, Greta Gerwig, Kris Jenner, Katy Perry, Miranda Kerr, and Doja Cat each brought a different approach to evening dressing, with their shoes ranging from classic pointed-toe pumps and minimalist stilettos to crystal sandals, clear PVC mules, and towering platforms.

Founded by Star Wars and Indiana Jones creator George Lucas and Ariel Investments co-CEO Mellody Hobson, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art celebrates visual storytelling. Its collection spans paintings, illustrations, photography, film, comic art, and other forms of narrative art, including works by Frida Kahlo, Norman Rockwell, and Charles White.

Cynthia Erivo Sharpens a Khaite Bronte Dress With Louboutin So Kate Pumps

Cynthia Erivo kept her footwear classic beneath the dramatic proportions of her black Khaite dress, choosing Christian Louboutin’s “So Kate” pumps in black suede.

Erivo paired the pumps with Khaite’s sculptural “Bronte” dress from the Fall/Winter 2026 collection. The strapless bodice was made from black velvet and opened into a voluminous bubble peplum with pleated tiers of silk organza. Below, the tiered skirt continued with more tucking and pleating, while a hand-ruched organza bustle added volume and shape at the back.

Keke Palmer Revisits Archival Alexander McQueen Pumps With a Saint Laurent Mini

Keke Palmer leaned into ’90s-inspired glamour with a warm monochromatic combination of a chocolate-brown Saint Laurent mini dress and tortoiseshell-effect Alexander McQueen pumps.

Her peep-toe heels featured glossy, mosaic-like croc embossing, giving the shoes a richly textured finish. Wave-like cutouts shaped the vamp, while a subtle platform and towering stiletto heels added height.

The archival McQueen pumps were already part of Palmer’s 2026 wardrobe. At around 5’5″ (165 cm) with a US shoe size 9, Palmer has experimented with everything from sleek pumps to platforms and embellished sandals.

Palmer paired the textured pumps with a chocolate-brown satin Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2024 mini dress that picked up the warm tones of her shoes. The structured halter neckline flowed into a fitted shift silhouette, with clean seams running down the front and sides.

Tracee Ellis Ross paired one of the evening’s most voluminous outfits with comparatively delicate footwear: black satin Giuseppe Zanotti slingback sandals.

The shoes featured a curved strap across the toes and a slim slingback around the heel. Pointed peep toes revealed her burgundy pedicure, while slender stiletto heels kept the profile streamlined.

Standing 5’7″ (170.2 cm) and wearing a US shoe size 8.5, Ross has worn everything from classic pumps to barely-there sandals, with Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weitzman, and Aquazzura among the footwear brands in her YNS fashion archive.

Katy Perry Doubles Down on Shine With René Caovilla Ellabrita Heels and Christian Siriano

Katy Perry brought shine all the way down to her shoes, wearing René Caovilla’s “Ellabrita” sandals in a silver-gray finish.

Made in Italy from satin and nappa leather, the sandals featured slender crystal-encrusted straps across the toes and around the ankles. Open toes, slim high heels, and René Caovilla’s glittering Stardust soles continued the shimmering finish.

The Ellabrita has also appeared on other celebrity red carpets. Maya Jama previously wore rose-gold René Caovilla Ellabrita sandals with crystal-covered straps and glittering soles at the 2019 GQ Men of the Year Awards.

Doja Cat Towers in Clear Platform Mules and Hot-Pink Nue Studio

Doja Cat took a very different approach to transparent footwear, choosing towering clear platform mules beneath her hot-pink Nue Studio dress.

The shoes featured a wide clear vinyl strap across the toes, substantial transparent platforms, open backs, and dramatically high clear heels. Their exaggerated proportions are reminiscent of the platform styles associated with Pleaser, although the designer of this particular pair has not been confirmed.

The Pleaser comparison is particularly relevant because Doja Cat has worn the brand before. At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, the 5’2″ singer wore custom Pleaser mules with towering platforms and sky-high heels. Those butter-yellow shoes used a similar open-backed platform construction but created a very different effect through their opaque color.

For the Lucas Museum opening, Doja paired the clear platforms with Nue Studio’s hot-pink “Daphne” dress. The design featured an open side and exposed back balanced by a high halter neckline with a choker-style collar.
