Lady Gaga has long made towering platforms part of her signature style, whether she’s dressing for a movie premiere or performing alongside a music legend.
Two memorable examples came five years apart: her crystal-covered Pleaser boots at the House of Gucci premiere in London on November 9, 2021, and the Brian Atwood “Tribeca” platform sandals she wore while celebrating Tony Bennett’s 90th birthday in New York City on August 3, 2016.

The outfits were very different, but both played into Gaga’s longstanding preference for dramatic footwear. At 5 feet 1 ¼ inches (155.6 cm), she regularly uses towering platforms as part of her exaggerated proportions rather than simply to add height: the Pleaser boots disappeared beneath her sweeping Gucci gown, while the Brian Atwood sandals became a visible part of her shorter black looks.
House of Gucci Glamour: Lady Gaga’s 8-Inch Pleaser Boots Purple Gucci Gown
For the 2021 House of Gucci premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, Gaga arrived in a sweeping purple Gucci gown with sheer panels and a long, voluminous train.

Directed by Ridley Scott, House of Gucci traces the power struggles and betrayal within the Gucci family. The film is based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, available on Amazon.

Gaga stars as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, and immersed herself in the role well beyond filming.
She told British Vogue that she lived as Reggiani for a year and a half, spoke in character for nine months, and dyed her blonde hair to help complete the transformation.

Wearing a custom crystal-embellished Gucci Pre-Fall 2022 gown featuring nude see-through panels, she accessorized with embellished gloves, black fishnet stockings, a Tiffany Co. Schlumberger Hands necklace, and a variety of sparkling jewelry by Tiffany Co.

Gaga completed the look with black Pleaser Flamingo-1020 ankle boots, a lace-up style built on an 8-inch heel and substantial 4-inch platform. Her pair stood apart with sparkling embellishments across the platform, echoing the crystals on her Gucci gown.
The choice was hardly a one-off. Gaga has repeatedly returned to Pleaser’s extreme platforms, from thigh-high Flamingo-3000 boots at the 2017 Grammys to white Flamingo boots during her 2021 performances with Tony Bennett.
As of August 2026, the standard Pleaser Flamingo-1020 remains available on Amazon for about $106. Gaga’s crystal-embellished version was customized for the red carpet, but the retail style has the same dramatic 8-inch heel and 4-inch platform.

Old Hollywood in Platforms: Brian Atwood Tribeca Sandals Two Black Dresses
Five years earlier, Gaga took a different approach to statement platforms while celebrating Tony Bennett’s 90th birthday in New York City.

Instead of Pleaser’s ankle boots, she chose Brian Atwood’s “Tribeca” sandals, a soaring red-carpet style distinguished by a substantial front platform, slim ankle straps, and crystal embellishments. Gaga kept the same pair on through two very different black evening looks.

To celebrate Tony Bennett’s 90th birthday in New York, she donned a black Carolina Herrera crepe dress that crossed at the back and cut low at the sides.

She accessorized the Carolina Herrera dress with an Eric Javits hat, while the sparkling sandals provided most of the look’s statement detail below the ankle.

Gaga later changed into a strapless velvet Brandon Maxwell dress with a sculpted neckline, high slit, and low-cut back. She kept the same Brian Atwood sandals, with the crystal-covered platforms complementing both her Carolina Herrera dress and the more revealing performance look.
She joined Stevie Wonder to sing “Happy Birthday” to Bennett, while Paul McCartney was among the other stars celebrating the music legend’s 90th. Gaga’s second look and performance can be seen below.
