Sarah Jessica Parker paired an ornate Dolce Gabbana dress with one of her own signature shoe designs for the Divorce premiere at the SVA Theater in New York City on October 4, 2016. Beneath the purple lace and crystal embellishment were metallic bronze satin Rampling pumps from the SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker collection.

Named after English actress Charlotte Rampling, the single-sole pump featured a sleek pointed toe, a 4-inch (100mm) stiletto heel, and a vertical grosgrain ribbon down the back seam—a signature detail of Parker’s footwear line. The Rampling became a recurring shoe in her own wardrobe, appearing in different colors and finishes well beyond this premiere.

The shoes also belong to a now-closed chapter of Parker’s fashion career. SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker launched in 2014 with George Malkemus III and built much of its identity around colorful single-sole pumps and distinctive heel details. After a decade in business, the footwear label closed in 2024, leaving styles such as the Rampling to the secondary market.

Parker wore a purple layered-lace tea-length dress from Dolce Gabbana’s Fall 2016 collection. Three-quarter-length sleeves and an intricately embellished bodice covered with multicolored crystals, gemstones, and embroidery gave the dress most of its visual weight.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s long-running relationship with statement shoes extends well beyond her years playing Carrie Bradshaw. For this look, however, she kept the footwear comparatively streamlined and allowed the texture and embellishment of the dress to take the lead.

She accessorized with mixed-metal bracelets, statement rings, and drop earrings. A blue velvet ribbon wrapped around her left ankle added an unexpected detail of its own; it was a personal styling touch rather than part of either the dress or the Rampling pumps.

Her hair was swept into a sleek high updo, while shimmering purple eye shadow picked up the colors running through the dress.

Why the SJP Rampling Pumps Worked With Her Embellished Dress

At her feet, Parker wore the bronze satin version of her SJP Rampling pumps. Their clean single-sole construction and slim stiletto heel provided a relatively simple counterpoint to the dress’s lace, crystals, embroidery, jewelry, and strong color.

The metallic bronze finish did not introduce another bright color competing for attention. Instead, it picked up the warmer tones in the embellishment while giving the shoes enough contrast to remain visible beneath the tea-length hem.

The Rampling Became One of Sarah Jessica Parker’s Recurring SJP Shoes

The Divorce premiere was not an isolated appearance for the Rampling. Parker repeatedly returned to the pointed-toe silhouette in different finishes and styling contexts.

Just two months later, she paired metallic Rampling pumps with a black lace dress at the HBO España launch in Madrid. Years later, she demonstrated how differently the same basic silhouette could be styled when she wore hot pink satin Rampling pumps with cuffed pants and a colorful Farm Rio puffer coat in New York.

That repetition helps explain Parker’s approach to her own shoe collection. Rather than reserving SJP designs for promotional appearances, she regularly incorporated them into red-carpet, event, and everyday outfits.

The Rampling also shared several characteristics with other important SJP pumps. The SJP Fawn pump, for example, combined a pointed toe and 4-inch stiletto heel with the same contrasting grosgrain treatment down the back. Parker wore the Fawn extensively as well, including unconventional combinations such as red satin pumps with Gucci knee-high socks.

What Happened to Sarah Jessica Parker’s SJP Shoe Collection?

Parker launched SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker with George Malkemus III in 2014. The footwear line centered on colorful pumps, sandals, and boots, with the Rampling and Fawn among the pointed-toe styles Parker frequently wore herself.

Parker was also a visible wearer of her own products. Over the years, she was photographed not only on red carpets but also working in her New York SJP boutiques while wearing styles from the collection, including Ursula pumps and Paley mules.

After a 10-year run, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker closed in 2024. The end of the label means the bronze Rampling pumps Parker wore in 2016 are no longer part of a current retail collection, but they remain a useful example of the pointed-toe, single-sole heels that defined much of the brand’s aesthetic.
