Sarah Hyland paired one of Giuseppe Zanotti’s most recognizable red-carpet sandal silhouettes with a sharply structured Galia Lahav mini dress at the iHeartRadio Music Awards at The Forum in Los Angeles on March 11, 2018.
At 5’1″ (154.9 cm), Hyland frequently uses heels and platforms to alter the proportions of her petite frame, and this look put the focus squarely on a pair of sparkling Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.

Sarah Hyland Pairs Galia Lahav’s Elvira Mini With Crystal Giuseppe Zanotti Sandals
Hyland wore Galia Lahav’s “Elvira” dress from the label’s Spring 2018 Couture collection. The black mini featured faceted sequin embroidery, exaggerated shoulders, long fitted sleeves, metallic mesh accents, an open back, and an asymmetrical tulip-shaped skirt.
Neil Lane jewelry continued the high-shine styling, while the short hemline left her Giuseppe Zanotti sandals completely visible.

A Closer Look at Sarah Hyland’s Giuseppe Zanotti Crystal Sandals
The sandals feature three slim crystal-covered straps across the foot, an ankle strap, an open toe, and a towering approximately 120mm stiletto heel. The barely-there construction provided height without adding another heavy element to an already highly embellished outfit.
Giuseppe Zanotti became closely associated with jewel-like evening shoes, and Hyland had already worn the Italian designer on other major red carpets. At the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards, for example, she paired strappy Giuseppe Zanotti heels with a plunging black Vera Wang dress.

Why the Look Drew Jennifer Lopez Comparisons
Hyland’s combination of exaggerated shoulders, a plunging neckline, a very short hemline, bronzed makeup, and voluminous brunette hair recalled the high-glamour red-carpet styling long associated with Jennifer Lopez.
It was not the first time their footwear choices had invited a comparison. Back in 2011, Hyland and Jennifer Lopez were both spotted in towering Ruthie Davis “Robot” platform sandals, with each wearing a different colorway.
Here, however, the resemblance was more about styling than copying a particular outfit. The strong shoulders and body-conscious mini created most of the drama, while the thin crystal straps of Hyland’s Giuseppe Zanotti sandals kept the footwear visually light and helped extend the line of her legs.
A Celebrity Favorite: Giuseppe Zanotti’s Crystal Three-Strap Sandals
The same crystal-covered Giuseppe Zanotti style also appeared on other celebrity red carpets. Jennifer Garner has worn the sparkling sandals, while Jenna Dewan styled the Giuseppe Zanotti heels with a crystal-covered Azzaro dress.
That repeat celebrity exposure illustrates why the design worked so well during the period: from a distance it reads as a simple strappy sandal, while the crystal detailing gives it enough impact for an awards-show carpet.

The crystal-embellished leather sandals were originally listed at approximately $1,495. As an archival style, current availability and resale pricing can vary.
Carolina Herrera and Hidden Jimmy Choos at the Costume Designers Guild Awards
Hyland’s iHeartRadio appearance came during a run of dressier early-2018 red-carpet looks.
At the Costume Designers Guild Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on February 20, 2018, she wore a cobalt-blue strapless Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2018 gown with colorful floral embellishments across its fitted bodice and full skirt.
The floor-sweeping silhouette completely concealed her Jimmy Choo shoes, making the footwear part of the outfit even though it was barely visible on the carpet. Hyland has a longer history with the label: she previously paired strappy Jimmy Choo sandals with a sequined Marc Jacobs mini dress at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards.

The Herrera appearance also continued a relationship with the New York fashion house that stretched back several years; Hyland had previously worn a floor-length Carolina Herrera gown to the 2013 Emmy Awards.
Stuart Weitzman Sandals at the 2018 Vanity Fair Oscar Party
On March 4, 2018, Hyland attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills in another heavily embellished look.
She wore a semi-sheer Ermanno Scervino dress with intricate embroidery, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and Stuart Weitzman sandals. Compared with the crystal-heavy Giuseppe Zanotti pair she wore a week later, the classic ankle-strap silhouette provided a quieter finish beneath the detailed dress.
Stuart Weitzman has repeatedly appeared in Hyland’s red-carpet wardrobe. One particularly colorful example came at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards, when she matched red suede Stuart Weitzman “Myex” sandals to a blue-and-red floral J. Mendel dress.

From Crystal Stilettos to Platforms: Sarah Hyland’s Shoe Style
Across these appearances, Hyland used three very different footwear strategies: sparkling Giuseppe Zanotti stilettos with a short black mini, Jimmy Choos hidden beneath a voluminous Carolina Herrera gown, and understated Stuart Weitzman sandals with an intricately embellished Oscar-party dress.
Platforms are another recurring part of her wardrobe. Her gray suede Jimmy Choo “Holly” platform sandals at the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards show how she has used a much heavier shoe silhouette when the clothing above it is shorter and more casual.
The common thread is proportion. Rather than relying on one type of heel, Hyland varies the visual weight of her shoes to match the dress—barely-there straps with elaborate eveningwear, substantial platforms when the outfit can support them, and hidden heels when a full-length skirt is meant to dominate the silhouette.
