Rose Byrne gave two very different takes on crystal-embellished pumps at Los Angeles red-carpet events in early 2018, pairing statement shoes with equally detailed dresses instead of making them the only focal point.

At the “Peter Rabbit” premiere at The Grove on February 3, 2018, Byrne wore Jimmy Choo “Tia” pumps with an Erdem Spring 2018 floral dress.
Built on a classic pointed-toe silhouette with a 100mm (about 4-inch) heel, the dark suede-and-satin pumps were covered in Swarovski crystals of varying sizes, creating a textured, three-dimensional effect.

The combination could easily have looked too busy, but the black running through Erdem’s Victorian-influenced Spring 2018 floral dress connected visually with the dark pumps. Instead of disappearing beneath the dense botanical print, the crystal-covered Jimmy Choos became part of the pattern-and-texture mix.
Byrne added a vintage Neil Lane brooch at the hip rather than the traditional lapel position, along with Ana Khouri statement ear cuffs. A relaxed topknot and cobalt-blue eyeliner kept the otherwise formal look from feeling too severe.

Originally priced at $3,250, Jimmy Choo’s “Tia” was a particularly elaborate take on the classic pointed-toe pump, combining a low-cut vamp with mixed-facet crystal embellishment that covered much of the shoe.
The design also had a red-carpet history beyond Byrne. Emma Roberts wore the Tia pumps with a layered Finders Keepers dress at PaleyFest in 2014, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead paired the same crystal-drenched style with a floral Christopher Bu ensemble in 2017. Sophia Webster Lilico Pumps Complete Her Oscar de la Renta Gala Look
A week earlier, at the G’Day USA Black Tie Gala at the InterContinental Los Angeles on January 27, 2018, Byrne had chosen another 100mm statement pump: Sophia Webster’s black satin “Lilico.” Instead of all-over crystals, its pointed toe featured a three-dimensional flower made of metallic leather petals and clustered crystals.

She paired the Lilico pumps with a black-and-white Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 gown layered with sequins and tulle. The black satin base blended into the floor-length gown, while the sculptural crystal-flower motif at each pointed toe echoed the sparkle of its sequins.

David Yurman jewelry and a quilted Roger Vivier clutch with a crystal clasp continued the metallic details, while Byrne wore her hair in loose waves for the black-tie look.

The floral appliqué was a signature of Sophia Webster’s “Lilico” line; Alexis Bledel wore another version of the Lilico pumps at the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards, while the motif also appeared across the designer’s popular Lilico sandals.

Together, the two looks show two different approaches to embellished pumps: Jimmy Choo’s Swarovski-covered “Tia” spread the decoration across the entire shoe, while Sophia Webster’s “Lilico” concentrated it at the toe. In both cases, the dark base connected the statement footwear to dresses that were already rich in print, texture, and embellishment.
