At the GQ Men of the Year Awards at London’s Tate Modern on September 3, 2019, Kylie Minogue accepted the Icon Award in a metallic Ralph Russo Fall 2019 Couture gown — and a pair of silver Dolce Gabbana sandals that were already familiar from her red-carpet wardrobe.
The one-shoulder gown featured asymmetric draping, a gathered waist, and a thigh-high slit. Its lightweight metallic fabric caught the wind as Minogue posed for photographers, forcing her to quickly pull the dress back into place.
More interesting from a footwear perspective was what she wore underneath. Rather than choosing new shoes for the occasion, the 5-foot (152.4 cm) singer, who wears a US size 5 shoe, returned to a towering pair of silver Dolce Gabbana platform sandals that had already appeared in her red-carpet rotation.

Kylie Minogue Returns to Her Silver Dolce Gabbana Platform Sandals
Minogue’s silver Dolce Gabbana heels are a notable example of repeat red-carpet footwear. The metallic sandals feature an open toe, a slim ankle strap with a small buckle, a covered heel counter, a towering stiletto heel, and a forefoot platform.

Their mirrored finish worked naturally with the liquid-silver appearance of her Ralph Russo gown, keeping the shoes visible through the high slit without adding another color or competing detail.
The approximately 5-inch heel also added considerable height to Minogue’s petite frame, while the front platform reduced some of the effective heel pitch compared with a similarly high single-sole sandal.
These weren’t new shoes in Minogue’s wardrobe. She had already worn the same silver Dolce Gabbana heels to the London premiere of Kingsman: The Golden Circle in September 2017, pairing them with another shimmering silver look.
