Karrueche Tran paired powder-blue Schutz “Juliana” caged heels with one of the more unusual skirts of the mid-2010s: Marina Hoermanseder’s colorful, buckle-covered leather design.

Tran wore the look to the unveiling of the “Empire” Curated Collection at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York on September 12, 2015. Her geometric Schutz sandals echoed the skirt’s structured straps, while a simple white Zara blouse kept the outfit from becoming overly complicated.

Marina Hoermanseder’s Belted Leather Skirt Gives the Look Its Structure

The skirt came from Marina Hoermanseder’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection and reflects the designer’s signature use of leather straps, buckles, and corset-like construction. Hoermanseder, who established her Berlin-based label in 2013, became known for translating references to orthopedic corsetry and leather support pieces into sculptural womenswear.

Rather than pairing the elaborate skirt with an equally detailed top, Tran chose a plain white Zara blouse. The simple shape kept the wrapped leather belts and metallic buckles as the focal point while creating a clear visual break between the skirt and her strappy sandals.

Powder-Blue Schutz Juliana Heels Continue the Caged-Strap Theme

On her feet, Tran wore the Schutz “Juliana,” an open-toe sandal built around an intricate geometric cage of slender straps and a tall stiletto heel. The powder-blue color added contrast without competing with the skirt’s stronger mix of color, leather, and hardware.

The Juliana was one of Schutz’s recognizable silhouettes in the mid-2010s, when elaborate cage sandals were especially prominent in celebrity footwear. The Brazilian footwear label, founded by Alexandre Birman in 1995, developed a strong following for high-heeled sandals that combined relatively minimal soles with attention-grabbing strap designs.

Tran completed the outfit with an MCM handbag and vintage Chanel earrings.

Karrueche Tran Has Returned to Strappy Statement Heels Throughout Her Style Evolution

The Schutz Juliana also fits a broader pattern in Tran’s footwear choices. Two years earlier, she wore Gucci cage sandals with an intricate T-strap construction, making them one of the clearest comparisons to the geometric Schutz design.

She continued experimenting with more elaborate sandals in 2015, pairing an all-white birthday look with purple DSquared2 “Babe Wire” sandals. Their ankle-wrap straps, metallic details, and approximately 4.5-inch stilettos offered a more dramatic variation on the same preference for shoes that frame the foot rather than disappear beneath an outfit.

Color has also played a recurring role in her shoe choices. In 2014, Tran added electric-blue Balenciaga buckle-front sandals to a simple mini dress, while years later she contrasted a lime outfit with blue satin The Attico “Fiona” sandals.

Her approach has not been limited to heavily caged styles. At the 2017 BET Awards, she relied on streamlined Gianvito Rossi “Portofino” sandals, while at the 2022 premiere of Jurassic World Dominion, transparent Giuseppe Zanotti “Lilibeth” PVC heels created a much more minimal, barely-there effect.

Taken together, those appearances make the powder-blue Juliana sandals less of an isolated styling choice and more representative of Tran’s long-running preference for high, open-toe heels with distinctive straps, color, or detailing. Why Schutz Shoes Keep Showing Up in Celebrity Style

The Juliana captures much of what has made Schutz a recurring celebrity choice: an eye-catching silhouette that photographs like a designer statement shoe without sitting in the same price tier as traditional luxury footwear. Celebrity stylist Nicole Chavez has praised Schutz for combining trend-led designs with comfort, noting that her clients wear the Brazilian label both on and off the red carpet. That versatility helps explain why Schutz has appeared on everyone from Blake Lively and Jennifer Lopez to Kate Middleton, across stilettos, cage sandals, pumps, and boots.

Founded by Alexandre Birman in Brazil in 1995 and now part of AZZAS 2154, Schutz continues to build on the same idea: bold footwear that works with a gown, tailoring, or an off-duty outfit rather than being reserved for one kind of occasion. The Juliana’s geometric straps made that formula particularly memorable in the mid-2010s, but the brand keeps reinterpreting it through its latest Schutz shoes and new arrivals. Below are more celebrity moments that show how differently those statement silhouettes can be worn.
