At the 2019 American Music Awards in Los Angeles on November 24, Carrie Underwood paired a custom purple sequined Stello gown with towering metallic-gold Giuseppe Zanotti Betty platform sandals.
At 5’3″ (160 cm), Underwood has long favored sky-high heels, and the Betty was already part of her red-carpet rotation. She had worn the same Giuseppe Zanotti platform silhouette in rose gold at the 2018 Country Music Awards, while her other memorable footwear choices range from crystal-covered Jimmy Choos to metallic Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.
The gown’s thigh-high slit put the shoes firmly in view, making the 5.7-inch platforms one of the defining elements of her red-carpet look.

Styled by Marina Toybina, Underwood completed the look with a Jimmy Choo clutch, Yvan Tufenkjian jewelry, and rings by Maxior Joias.
Underwood’s custom Stello gown combined an asymmetrical, one-shoulder silhouette with densely applied purple sequins. One side hung from a thin spaghetti strap, while the opposite shoulder extended into a long, draped cape.
The plunging V-neckline and high thigh slit balanced the gown’s floor-length silhouette, with the latter keeping her metallic-gold platforms clearly visible.

Underwood won both Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album.
“Thank you God for the talents that you give people and the gifts you give people and not just the people that are up here on the stage tonight but for every single person. We all have gifts and I hope we use them to make the world a better place,” she said as she received her awards.
She also thanked her sons and husband, Mike Fisher, for supporting her during the six-month Cry Pretty Tour 360.
“Thank you to the fans. Thank you so much. You guys support each and every one of us. You’re the ones that show up to the shows, you’re the ones that stream the music, buy the music, you guys love on us so well and we thank you so much for that,” she said.

For beauty, Melissa Schleicher paired Underwood’s straight, side-parted blonde hair with purple eye makeup, dark lashes, and a glossy nude lip.

Yvan Tufenkjian earrings and a gold necklace, Maxior Joias rings, and metallic Giuseppe Zanotti heels carried the gold accents through to her accessories.
Underwood wore Giuseppe Zanotti’s Betty sandals in metallic gold patent leather. The Italian-made peep-toe style featured adjustable buckled ankle straps, approximately 2.8-inch covered platforms, and imposing 5.7-inch block heels.
