When 5’9¼” (175.9 cm) Kendall Jenner stepped out in New York City on December 12, 2019, her leather-heavy street-style look brought together two different strains of fashion nostalgia: a miniature Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami Speedy from the early 2000s and chunky white adidas Originals EQT Gazelle sneakers with a distinctly late-’90s feel.

The tiny black bag was a Mini HL Speedy from Louis Vuitton’s Monogram Multicolore collection, created during Marc Jacobs’ tenure at the house with Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami. First introduced for Spring/Summer 2003, the collaboration recast Louis Vuitton’s familiar monogram in a multicolored palette and became one of the most recognizable luxury accessories of the Y2K era.

Jenner has also returned to Louis Vuitton in other parts of her wardrobe. In 2016, she gave an airport look a harder edge with Louis Vuitton Republic patent-leather ankle boots, showing how comfortably she moves between the house’s accessories and footwear.

Louis Vuitton and Murakami eventually ended their original collaboration, leaving those earlier Monogram Multicolore pieces to circulate largely through the resale market. That makes authentication especially important for anyone shopping vintage, since counterfeit Louis Vuitton bags can closely imitate the house’s monogram, hardware, and construction details.

Jenner paired the bag with high-waisted Loewe straight-leg leather pants detailed with contrasting white topstitching, an ice-blue fitted turtleneck under a black button-down jacket, Carolina Lemke x Kim Kardashian West rectangular sunglasses, and Ellie Vail Londyn lock earrings.

Instead of boots or heels, she chose triple-white adidas Originals EQT Gazelle sneakers. The model takes cues from adidas’ Gazelle heritage but uses the chunkier proportions and layered construction associated with the brand’s late-’90s Equipment era, giving the otherwise polished leather outfit a more casual footing.

The choice also fits a broader pattern in Jenner’s off-duty style. She has repeatedly used adidas sneakers to soften more considered outfits, including adidas Tubular Defiant sneakers, which she wore in several casual looks.

As of September 2026, the discontinued EQT Gazelle could still be found on the resale market. StockX listed several colorways, including the Crystal White version, showing that the late-2010s sneaker still circulates years after Jenner wore her pair in New York.

Her adidas rotation has not been limited to chunky silhouettes. In Cannes in 2017, Jenner paired a floral Zimmermann romper with white adidas Stan Smith sneakers, using the clean tennis-inspired shape to keep the look relaxed.

She later embraced an even lower-profile adidas classic with the adidas Samba, styling the football-derived sneaker with a fitted green tank and cream maxi skirt in Beverly Hills. Together, the Tubular Defiant, Stan Smith, Samba, and EQT Gazelle illustrate how consistently Jenner has used adidas sneakers as a counterpoint to leather, tailoring, dresses, and streamlined separates.

From the EQT Gazelle to Adidas’ Most Enduring Sneaker Icons

Kendall Jenner’s EQT Gazelles capture one chapter in a much longer adidas story. The brand has repeatedly turned sports footwear into everyday style, with silhouettes such as the Gazelle, Samba, Superstar, Stan Smith, and Ultraboost finding lives far beyond their original athletic purposes.

The Gazelle also appears among our classic retro sneakers that continue to influence modern footwear, while our adidas shoe size conversion guide covers men’s and women’s sizing across US, UK, European, and Japanese measurements.

The EQT Gazelle may now be primarily a resale find, but adidas continues to revisit its archive alongside new footwear designs. Visit adidas for the brand’s current shoes and latest releases.
