Kate, who became a patron of the Natural History Museum in 2013, met staff and researchers to learn about their work studying and protecting UK wildlife. During the visit, she examined British insect and plant specimens and watched a DNA sequencing demonstration.

The wide-leg trousers featured a gathered elasticated waist, stitched front creases, and side pockets, while the fitted knit added pointelle detailing across the yoke and sleeves.

The Jigsaw culottes were made from 100% polyester and originally retailed for £130 before being reduced to £89. Warehouse’s viscose-polyamide jumper originally sold for £39, with scalloped ribbing finishing the high neckline and cuffs.

Her accessories added another layer of burgundy and gold. Kate carried Chanel’s Art Nouvelle Small Flap Bag, a quilted design with a patterned enamel handle from the house’s Fall 2016/2017 collection.
She had previously carried the same bag with her Chanel tweed coat and these Tod’s pumps during the 2017 royal visit to Paris, and carried it again for Christmas church service at Sandringham in 2018.

Made in Italy, the almond-toe shoes feature a kiltie-style fringe across the vamp, a polished gold buckle, a substantial 4-inch block heel, and Tod’s signature pebbled rubber outsole. Some retailers also described the deep wine shade as Eggplant or Cherry. They were not her only shoes from the Italian label: Kate has also worn black suede Tod’s block-heel pumps for royal engagements.
The pumps date to Tod’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection and are no longer produced. Kate first wore them publicly in Whitehorse during the Royal Tour of Canada in September 2016 and went on to wear the pair at least seven times between 2016 and 2019. Among those repeat appearances were the Christmas Day church service in 2016 and her royal visit to Paris in 2017.
The October 2019 Natural History Museum visit appears to have been Kate’s last documented public outing in this exact Tod’s style. Because the pumps are no longer produced, shoppers looking for the same pair now generally have to turn to the resale market.
